Development Of EHCP

EHCP stands for Education, Health and Care Plan.  The purpose of an EHCP is to ensure that children and young people with special needs receive the support they need to achieve their full potential.

The development of an EHCP involves several steps. The first step is to identify the child or young person’s special educational needs (SEN) or disabilities. This can be done through assessments carried out by educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, or other professionals. Once the SEN have been identified, the next step is to determine what support is needed to meet those needs.

The EHCP must include details of the child or young person’s current level of development, their strengths and weaknesses, and their aspirations for the future. We ensure that It also includes details of the support that will be provided to help them achieve their goals. This may include specialist equipment, additional teaching support, or therapy sessions.

The EHCP is developed in collaboration with parents or carers, the child or young person themselves (where appropriate), and professionals involved in their care. Once the EHCP has been developed, we ensure that it is reviewed annually to ensure that it remains up-to-date and relevant.
